"My career plans were much more exiting when I was five."

An astronaut. Or, possibly a Storm Trooper. I’d have taken either of those two professions when I was five years old.

Coincidentally, both career paths meant I’d be spending time in outer space.

Over the next 25 years, I lost interest in escaping earth to inhabit other planets, but I still maintain that same love for the rockets in space.

Google has launched a little portal for advertisers.

I particularly enjoyed the “pet stick” case study — it seems as though Google is giving ad outsiders a little nudge into how-to-be-strategically-creative using their service:

You also spot the term “virtual pets,” which sparks a few ideas for some non-traditional Pet Stick marketing.

There’s also nice link to a sweet Google feature (i used to think it was a neat underground trick for finding popular searches) called “The Search-based Keyword Tool.”

I suffered a hard drive crash on 4/28/09. I’m back up and running now, thanks to the good folks at Apple (specifically the Bayshore Mall location). My down time was less than 9 hours. However, I’ve spent over 15 hours now re-loading lost programs and applications. I use several mnemonic devices I use to remember my logins and passwords to websites and portals across the web, but sometime in early 2008 I started getting a bit more cryptic and I’m surprised by some of what I’m remembering.

We’ll never be as young as we are right now.

It occurred to me this morning that I’ll never be as young as I am right now. This thought forced me to stand up, take my skateboard for a ride, work on my Munny, throw the cat a toy and eat that leftover pizza. I feel a renewed sense of urgency.

As a strategic planner, I liked making road maps, lists, sketches, concepts and next steps. Now, I’ve realized what I should have been doing… rather, what I should have been starting with all along was a plan that says: “Today I will…”
